π Howdy!
Here are Seven Things I was curious about lately:
Product/Social: Andreessen Horowitz put together a micro-site on the revival of Social that is both informative and well designed. Being a geek for metrics, I particularly enjoyed the piece on measuring the success of socially driven products.
Dashboard design: This discussion post on dashboards by Clearleft has some good arguments on what makes a useful one. I also thought that publishing a literal discussion was an interesting low-touch way to generate content.
UI Design: A very thorough and excellent piece on the design of notifications. Not just on the UI front, but copy and more.
Dataviz/Fashion: Still looking for a gift for data/design aficionados? Take a look at the data visualisation range of beaded jewellery by KatKat.
Data Journalism: David Epsteinβs TED talk Are athletes really getting faster, better, stronger?.
Mindset: Back in May I wrote about the importance of being flexible rather than waiting for better times. This week, I nodded along to an essay which approached this topic through the lens of leisure time: βthe value of free time depends not on the activity you pursue, but on how much satisfaction it gives you.β Word.
Photography: My favourite photographer Nadav Kanderβs visual response to coronavirus. I took some snaps during a weekend in the Lake District, and I am also way more excited than I should be about my dog reaching 1000 followers.
